On 4 July (Independence Day) American-style barbecue and crabshack Big Easy will host its annual rib-eating competition.
Ten challengers will go head-to-head in a race to eat as many racks of home-smoked ribs as they can in 30 minutes. Once their time is up, the judges will count up the number of bones on plates and
crown the winner, who will receive a £100 voucher for future meals at Big Easy – and whose name will be added to the restaurant’s wall of fame.
The competition starts at 6pm and entry is free. Sign up via firstname.lastname@example.org, leaving your name and contact details. Remember to bring your
appetite and a pair of comfy trousers.
Non-competitors can indulge in Independence Day-inspired dishes while they watch the action and toast the winner – and the occasion – with specially created red, white and blue margaritas. Live
music will follow the rib-eating contest from 8pm.
