Forget Rumble in the Bronx – this NYC import has nothing to do with martial arts and everything to do with Margaritas. To celebrate May Day bank holiday weekend, 15 London bars will compete to be crowned king of the Margarita at this Tequila-laced event on Sunday 30 April – with any sore heads guaranteed an extra duvet day on Bank Holiday Monday.
Among the contenders for the Margarita crown are DF Mexico, Tequila Mockingbird, Flight Club, and Mestizo; each competing bar will dispatch its top mixologists to the event, which takes place at event space The Yard, near Old Street station. You’re free to sample as many Margaritas as you can fit into your session, after which you can vote for your favourite by putting a token into your chosen ballot box. Chef James Cochran will be providing top-notch tummy fillers for those who believe that eating is never cheating (they’re right), while entertainment will range from mariachi bands to Day of the Dead dancers. Need more convincing? You might even land a free holiday to Mexico.
The London Margarita Rumble takes place in the City on Sunday 30 April, with various time slots available from midday. Tickets are available now from £35 a pop – book your session via Londonmargaritarumble.com and make yours a Margarita bank holiday.
