From the depths of freezing-cold winter, our thoughts turn inevitably to summer – and it seems we’re not the only ones making plans. In fact, tickets for Gala 2017 – a May Bank Holiday urban fête with more street food, craft beer and serious disco beats than you can shake a glitter ball at – are now on sale and will, in all likelihood, be snapped up by the cool kids before February is out. Make sure you’re one of them.
Taking place at beautiful Brockwell Park on Sunday 28 May, this event will champion its locals: street-food stars from Lewisham Model Market such as Bill or Beak; Brixton Village Market favourites including The Joint and Kricket; and brews ranging from Peckham Pils to Canopy Beer. But the rest of London isn’t excluded: the likes of Chicken Shop, Kerbisher and Malt, Killa Dilla, Oh My Dog, Made of Dough and Fatties Bakery will satisfy your junk-food cravings in style, while cocktail experts Soulshakers are getting the drinks in. As for the beats, you’re in for a treat: the line-up includes headliners Nicky Siano (of Studio 54 fame), the legendary DJs from Paradise Garage and South London’s own Horse Meat Disco, plus the likes of Crazy P, Harvey Sutherland & Bermuda, and Mood II Swing – and a special tribute to late local hero David Bowie from Late Night Tuff Guy.
Tickets start at £20 (plus a £2.40 booking fee) and you can grab yours at residentadvisor.net.
