This summer, six Covent Garden restaurants will serve floral dishes and drinks in St Martin’s Courtyard to celebrate summer – and the area’s history as a flower market.
On Saturday 13 July, from 12-5pm, St Martin’s Courtyard will be decked out with flowers – from a fabulous floral display courtesy of The Covent Garden Academy of Flowers, to floral prints hanging
in the windows of the courtyard’s boutiques.
Mexican restaurant Cantina Laredo will set up a pop-up bar in the courtyard and will give away 2,000 limited-edition hibiscus
margaritas, as well as samples of the restaurant’s signature dishes. In the restaurant itself, it will serve fried courgette flowers stuffed with feta cheese and fresh herbs, with chilli honey.
Meanwhile, Suda Thai will offer diners steamed Thai dumplings shaped as flowers from its street-food cart in the
courtyard – washed down with a butterfly kiss cocktail, garnished with a viola. Visitors can also stop by local wine bar Dalla Terra for
tasting demonstrations that will identify the floral notes in Italian wines; Bill’s for flower-topped cupcakes, and Dishoom for a refreshing rose-and-cardamom lassi.
