On August bank holiday Sunday, Arabica Bar & Kitchen in Borough Market will host its first introduction to wines of the Eastern Mediterranean. The evening will be hosted and co-curated by master of wine Sarah Abbot and renowned wine writer, Michael Karam, to capture the spirit of the Eastern Mediterranean’s contribution to food and drink. While Eastern Mediterranean food has long been popular, wines from the region are now also coming to prominence. Arabica Bar & Kitchen will lead the charge of this new movement, offering guests the opportunity to try red, white, rose and sweet wines from Israel, Turkey, Cyprus and Crete. There will also be a special Bekaa Butterfly cocktail made using ingredients from the Bekaa Valley in Eastern Lebanon, paired with a sprightly selection of summery Levantine inspired meze. Note that wine calories don’t count when you’re drinking for educational purposes.
An introduction to wines of the Eastern Mediterranean takes place on Sunday 28 August at Arabica Bar & Kitchen. Tickets cost £49 and can be purchased through the Eventbrite page.
