On Wednesday 23 May, Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurante on St Botolph Street is hosting a wine-tasting dinner featuring wines from the Miguel Merino winery in Spain – and Square Meal readers can

Miguel Merino is a small-scale producer based in Rioja Alta. At the four-course dinner, guests will taste five wines, from the young, fruity 2008 Viñas Jóvenes to the ripe and spicy 2005 Reserva.
Dishes on the menu include regional Riojan classics, from chorizo with potatoes, to slow-roasted lamb shank in rich red-wine sauce, followed by a selection of cheeses from Los Cameros. Save room
for dessert – torrijas, the Spanish version of French toast, make a filling and moreish finish.
