Hidden beneath the historic Holborn Viaduct in a network of Victorian wine cellars, The Winemakers Club offers one of London’s most atmospheric spaces for private parties and events. Housed in a vaulted space that has stored fine wine for over 150 years, this unique venue now doubles as both a low-lit, characterful bar and a working wine shop, making it a dream setting for gatherings that revolve around good conversation and great wine.
The arches, candlelit in the evenings and rich with timeworn charm, set the tone for a party that feels informal yet utterly distinctive. At street level, you're in central London - just minutes from Farringdon and City Thameslink stations - but step inside and the bustle disappears, replaced by an inviting space that feels like a well-kept secret.
Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, hosting an intimate wine tasting, or planning something a little more relaxed, The Winemakers Club offers flexibility and soul in equal measure. The venue can host groups from as few as ten to up to 120 guests, and a variety of spaces allow for wine-focused events, with a mixture of sitting and standing options. Best of all, there’s no hire fee (just a minimum spend) making it a refreshingly honest option for private hire in central London.
The smallest space to hire is The Tasting Room for up to 20, while half arch hire, two-arch hire and whole arch hire cater to events of all sizes. Or, go the whole hog and hire the entire venue! Do note that the team cannot cater for sit-down dinners, but are more than able to provide your event with excellent wine and delicious bar snacks.
The wine list is a true point of pride here. Since launching in 2009 as a small-scale importer, The Winemakers Club has built a portfolio of nearly 40 producers, with a focus on organic, biodynamic and low-intervention winemaking. Expect bottles with character, many from lesser-known regions or rare varietals, and a team on hand who are as happy talking you through the list as they are pouring you something delicious and unexpected. For events with personality, flavour, and a generous pour of atmosphere, The Winemakers Club is hard to beat.
