The Wardrobe is a funky bar and restaurant in the heart of the City of London, that boasts a spacious outdoor courtyard as well as a cosy and colourful inside dining area. This site was once the King's Wardrobe - literally the building where the King of England's garments and armour were kept, centuries ago - and The Wardrobe pays homage to this little slice of history by name.
The Wardrobe is usually open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, but the bar is also available for private hire. Among many things, The Wardrobe boasts a large outdoor courtyard - a real rarity in this part of London - and the courtyard is available to hire on its own for anyone planning an al fresco corporate or private gathering. The courtyard has capacity for about 40 people for a sit-down meal, or it makes a perfect spot for a big drinks party, under dappled sun and shade.
Head inside and you'll find is cosy, funky and colourful, with plenty of table space over multiple levels. A striking floral installation overhead, as well as exposed brick walls, wood floors and tables give The Wardrobe an organic vibe, making it a great place for relaxed events. The main restaurant and bar is also available for private hire and is suitable for slightly larger sit-down gatherings than the courtyard, with capacity for around 50 people.
The menu is classic British pub fare done well. Mains include chicken supreme in white wine and tarragon sauce, beer-battered fish and chips and a hefty beef burger, but there are sharing platters and small bites available too, as well as comforting puds like plum and apple crumble and hot chocolate fondant. Whether you're planning a meal with friends or work party, the team at The Wardrobe are on hand to make sure your event goes without a hitch.
