Part of local Clapham pub group, Polygon Pubs, The Rose & Crown is a gorgeous Victorian pub venue with characterful spaces and feel-good menus perfect for all kinds of events, from birthdays to corporate summer parties. Established in 1870, it’s the oldest drinking spot in the area, complete with a sunny outdoor terrace looking out over the piazza.
On the first floor, you’ll find a lovely private space which seats up to 45 guests for sit-down banquets, 30 for brunch or breakfast meetings or up to 55 for canapes and dancing parties, complete with its own cocktail bar, a seaside blue cocktail bar, and comfortable leather seating. Alternatively, if you’re looking to go bigger, say for a larger company party or a big milestone celebration with lots of friends and family, there’s also the option to hire The Rose & Crown in its entirety for events with 200 to 250 guests.
Dining is in good hands, thanks to The Rose & Crown’s comforting event menus. While these change with the seasons, you’ll consistently find delicious gastropub cooking with a modern edge. Served family style, you’ll find starters like Caesar salad with crispy bacon, Clarence Court eggs, chicken, and parmesan croutons; salmon gravlax with pickled cucumber and dill cream; and za’atar cauliflower with tahini dressing and smoked grain-freekeh.
Mains might range from chicken, ham and leek pie to celeriac and black truffle risotto, or braised pork shoulder with puffed crackling. Sides, meanwhile, include mashed potato, buttered greens, and chicory and hazelnut salad, while desserts offer true pub classics like sticky toffee pudding and a rhubarb crumble.
Standing events at The Rose & Crown Clapham Old Town throw up a range of tasty canapés, including cold bites like smoked salmon blinis, hot pulled pork croquettes, and larger plates like fish finger sandwiches, sliders, and fish and chip cones.
