For a larger celebration in Hammersmith, The Gate offers exclusive hire for up to 50 people in a characterful, charming setting alongside in-house plant-based catering. The restuarant has an unusual location in a converted artist’s studio tucked behind the Hammersmith Apollo, where inside expansive picture windows and a lofty vaulted ceiling create a bright, distinctive setting, with a secluded summer terrace.
Available for private events of up to 50 seated guests, The Gate is particularly well suited to larger dinners, corporate events and office dos, as well as birthdays and even intimate, city wedding celebrations. The team take venue hire bookings seriously and are hand to help you every step of the way, from organising seating plans and giving the space a touch of personality, to working with you on an entirely bespoke menu to suit your guest's tastes.
Founded by brothers Michael and Adrian Daniel in 1989, The Gate has grown from a pioneering Hammersmith opening into one of London’s best-known plant-based restaurants. Its cooking is influenced by the Arabic, Indian and Jewish flavours the brothers experienced growing up, resulting in food that is colourful, generous and designed to appeal to vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
Bespoke event menus can draw on longstanding favourites such as aubergine schnitzel layered with basil pesto, roasted peppers and tomatoes, accompanied by dauphinoise potatoes, kale and horseradish cream. Korean tofu is served with lettuce cups and house-made kimchi, while crisp courgette flowers are filled with sun-dried tomato, butternut squash, basil and pine nuts. Wild mushroom risotto cake offers something rich and comforting, and the vibrant Dragon salad combines crunchy vegetables, avocado and teriyaki-glazed tofu.
The entirely plant-based à la carte offering makes planning inclusive menus straightforward, while the vegan wine list includes a selection of organic bottles. It's just another plus when working with The Gate Hammersmith, that their strong sustainability credentials add a further layer of substance, with ingredients sourced locally and responsibly wherever possible.
