It's rare that a restaurant is created that's designed just as much for throwing private parties, as it is for day-to-day diners. Lula is an aesthetically pleasing, neighbourhood spot in Queen's Park which boasts not only a ground floor restaurant but a first-floor venue space, too.
Downstairs diners are treated to parquet-style terracotta floors, overhead wooden beams and exposed brick for a laid-back feel, perfectly complemented by the bi-fold glass doors which invite the outside in. Those sitting on the plant-studded terrace will feel part of the buzz inside and vice versa. In terms of the menu, Lula offers feasting, sharing-style and set menus, across both the restaurant and event spaces. For an idea of what kind of culinary delights to expect you can explore the events brochure which gives some example dishes such as Bloody Mary oysters to nibble on, followed by starters like scallops with wild mushrooms and truffle cream.
Mains might look like aged rib eye with green steak sauce or butterflied seabass served with sides like Cypriot potatoes, Lula salad and delicia roasted squash with crispy onions. Finished with tiramisu or basque cheesecake. Drinks packages are also available, from welcome drinks of champagne to working out a signature cocktail with the team.
There are plenty of options for taking over Lula; hire just the downstairs for 50 people seated or 80 standing, or optimise the upstairs private hire room. Here, you can host a special supper around a central dinner table for 60 people or a stylish drinks reception for 100. Light, bright and airy, the first-floor room has white-washed floorboards, lime washed walls and loads of natural light. You'll find room enough for a family-style feast as well as lounging furniture to welcome friends with a drink, or keep the party going late into the night.
