Headed up by Michelin-starred chef Gregory Marchand (or ‘Frenchie’ as he was nicknamed by mentor Jamie Oliver), this chic eatery on bustling Henrietta Street is a popular haunt, and for good reason. The restaurant also doubles up as an event venue for hire, able to accommodate all manner of personal and corporate celebrations, ranging from birthday dinners to business lunches.
Frenchie spreads itself across two levels, consisting of a ground-floor dining room and a basement area. Both are chic and attractive spaces, featuring neutral colour tones, exposed brick and marble-topped surfaces. On the ground floor, there is also an open kitchen and a dining counter so that you can watch the team of chefs at work, which is sure to be a great conversation starter among guests. Adding further to Frenchie’s appeal is its close proximity to various accessible transport links, as well as Theatreland, ideal if you are planning on taking your guests to see a show as part of your festivities.
When it comes to hosting events, Frenchie offers two enticing options. The first of which is to take over the semi-private lower level, which can accommodate up to 20 guests for a sit-down meal. Alternatively, larger groups can plump for exclusive hire of the whole venue, which can welcome up to 60 people at one time.
When it comes to food, Frenchie offers a range of seasonally changing set menus that are available for groups, with dishes inspired by Marchand’s culinary travels. Groups can opt to enjoy a three-, five- or seven-course tasting menu along with optional paired wines. Dishes you might come across on your visit include the likes of ‘nduja stuffed chicken breast with corn salsa and crispy polenta or seared Gigha halibut with coco beans, vadouvan and smoked dashi sauce. Vegetarian option also available.
