Big Fridge London is a striking blank-canvas venue in the Royal Docks, combining the scale and flexibility of a warehouse with the character of a historic industrial landmark. Available for exclusive hire, the space can accommodate up to 1,000 guests standing, 636 theatre style, 238 for meetings or 192 for a banquet, opening it up to everything from awards ceremonies and corporate events to exhibitions, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations and large-scale receptions.
The building itself dates back to 1914, when it was constructed as a cold-storage warehouse serving the Royal Docks’ global shipping trade. Today, the locally listed red-brick landmark has been reimagined as a community hub for digital arts, culture and events, while retaining much of its original industrial character.
Inside, one vast open-plan hall provides plenty of scope for creative event production. Soaring industrial ceilings, exposed brickwork and original structural details nod to the building’s past, while huge arched windows flood the space with natural daylight. As a blank canvas, it can be transformed with furniture, staging, lighting and decorations to match the occasion. The scale of the room also makes it a versatile choice for live music and dancing, film screenings, exhibitions, creative collaborations, photography and filming.
Food and drink arrangements can be built around individual events, with organisers able to bring in external caterers or work with preferred suppliers including Sands Catering, Jess Chef and Sweet and Chilli. This allows anything from informal drinks and canape receptions to seated dinners and large-scale banquets. A bar area, cafe, on-site toilets and advanced digital facilities add to the practical event set-up. Big Fridge also holds a 24-hour premises licence and offers community discounts.
