Set on the first floor, the First Floor Playroom seats up to 30 for festive dinners, with room fr up to 55 for standing events, complete with its own cocktail bar and a totally private feel. The Mezzanine is a little more intimate, seating 25 or hosting up to 30 for standing Christmas events. Alternatively, The Snug can seat up to 30 for sit-down meals or up to 55 for festive celebrations with canapes, drinks, and dancing.
Christmas party menus at The Ox change each year, reflecting the very best produce available. That said, to give a hint as to what to expect this year, previous roast dinner party menus have kicked things off with toasted black olive sourdough served with an indulgent herb butter, followed by a host of tasty dishes served family style.
Starters might include dishes like ox cheek ravioli in a parmesan emulsion, bone marrow canoes with a parsley and garlic crumb and sourdough bread, or crispy fried oyster mushrooms with shredded cabbage and sweet potato. The Ox’s festive main options, meanwhile, might look something like middlewhite shredded pork shoulder with crackling, roast Norfolk chicken, or an almond and pistachio nut roast, all served with Yorkshire puddings, gravy, roast potatoes, maple carrots and parsnips, and slow braised red cabbage. For dessert? Expect sticky toffee stout cake pudding with toffee sauce and clotted cream ice cream, alongside forced Yorkshire rhubar crumble with Madagascan vanilla custard.
