Some Christmas parties require an extra special setting: somewhere spacious and with the equipment, capabilities and team to pull off an exceptional event. For that, take a look at London Museum, which takes over the historic Smithfield Market in the City and breathes new life into a much-loved, well-storied market.
The building goes back to the Victorian era and is defined by its huge, majestic dome, under which events for up to 1,500 people can be planned. The former market has been split up into three main spaces, all of which can be adjusted and altered to suit different events, with some occasions taking over multiple spaces.
The 'Real Time' space has the smallest capacity - an impressive 500 standing, but only 50 seated - so it's an ideal add on if you are hosting an larger event. It would work well for cocktails and canapes or even presentations before the main shindig begins, thanks to its large digital screens and flexible areas.
The 'Our Time' gallery is huge. Think 1,000 guests standing and up to 750 catered for seated, it's a great option for day to night entertaining because of the space and flexibility. Here, you set up staging, lighting and immersive builds, really creating something special and unique for your event. The most striking thing about this area is the soaring dome above - as mentioned, this original feature is pretty jaw-dropping and characterising this space especially.
Finally, the 'Past Time' gallery is ideal for networking events and showing VIPs a good time. It's special because hiring this space allows you access to the museum's galleries, bringing a cultural feel to your occasion. Up to 1,000 people can be hosted in this space as standing. Generally speaking, the museum is open in the day and so only evening hire from 7pm until 11pm is allowed, but you're welcome to consult the team.
