About

With sweeping views across Romney Marsh and, on a clear day, all the way to France, Lympne Castle is one of Kent’s most captivating and romantic wedding venues. This Grade I listed medieval castle, nestled in the heart of the Garden of England, offers the perfect setting for a fairytale celebration steeped in history and grandeur.

Dating back to the 12th century, the castle has hosted royalty, artists and dignitaries over the centuries, from King Henry VIII and the Archbishop of Canterbury to Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger. Today, its ancient stone walls and gothic arched windows create an unforgettable backdrop for couples looking to exchange vows in a place where time seems to stand still.

Weddings at Lympne Castle unfold across a series of beautiful spaces, each with its own distinct atmosphere. The West Drawing Room, with its wood panelling, carved stone fireplace and panoramic bow window, offers an intimate setting for a civil ceremony, while the dramatic Great Hall is perfect for larger celebrations of up to 130 guests. Vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and candlelight set the tone for an occasion full of character and elegance.

Beyond the ceremony, the castle’s enchanting gardens, historic architecture and far-reaching views offer endless opportunities for wedding photography. As day turns to night, the castle transforms into a magical setting for feasting and dancing, with catering and service tailored to each couple’s vision.

For guests staying overnight, the experience continues with on-site self-catering cottages. Ranging from the quaint two-bedroom Gatehouse to the spacious Pinkie Hill Cottage, each combines period charm with modern amenities – perfect for making a weekend of the celebration. Lympne Castle is not just a venue; it’s a moment suspended in time, where ancient history meets modern romance. Whether you’re dreaming of a lavish celebration or a more intimate gathering, this extraordinary castle delivers a wedding day as unique and timeless as the setting itself.

Testimonials for Lympne Castle

It was the perfect venue for our spring wedding.JULY, 2025

My wife and I were married at the lovely Lympne Castle in May 2023 and our day was everything we hoped it could be and more. The Castle had everything we needed with stunning views, particualrly from the castle's gardens and in the bride's preparation room, along with onsite accomodation. It was the perfect venue for our spring wedding. The staff at the venue were absolutlely amazing and we can't thank Kate and Michael enough for all the their help and assistance. They were both incredibly friendly and prompt to respond to any queries that we had and their team always ensured that both us and our guests were well looked after on the day.We would recommend getting married at Lympne Castle in a heartbeat.

My fairytale dreams come true!!JULY, 2025

My fairytale dreams come true!!My husband and I got married at stunning Lympne Castle on the 3rd April 2023 and our day was everything I could have ever dreamed of.The story of our dream wedding venue almost ended up in tatters; we had booked Lympne Castle under its old Management and were one of those coulples who's wedding was then cancelled due to the sale of Lympne Castle to a new owner. This was 7 weeks before our wedding. As in every good fairytale things worked out for those with true love and we were the very first couple to have their wedding at Lympne Castle under the new Management.I think this was the best thing that ever happened to us!While the castle itself is already breathtaking and simply the perfect backdrop for any wedding, we were blessed with clear blue skies and a warm breeze. Everything was utterly perfect! My biggest shout out and compliment goes to Kate & Mike from the Castle who simply managed to be everywhere on the day, making sure we were running to schedule, myself & husband were fed and everyone had an amazing time! Kate, Mike & Team truely went above and beyond for us and there wasn't a single Canape out of place or glass empty. I had already had the pleasure of working with Kate while planning the wedding and she wasn't just an absolute joy to work with but made wedding planning basically stress free. She always responded to my emails and calls and was incredibly accomodating. On our big day the new owners came by to introduce themselves and congratulate us and to ensure that we had everything we needed. This was so appreciated. We spent the night before our wedding and the wedding night in the cottages adjacent to the castle which was perfect and meant that myself and my bridal part could be in the stunning getting-ready room by 8am sharp. We had several items of entertainment planned for our guests, including archery, falconry and a band and none of it was a problem for the castle staff! If I could get married at Lympne Castle again I would do it without hesitation and I know that the new Management is going to give the Castle the TLC it deserves to make it an even dreamier location. I can honestly only recommend Lympne Castle and its staff as a venue for any kind of event and we will surely be back.

Our guests were absolutely wowed by the views and the castle itself.JULY, 2025

Where do I begin with this incredible venue? We had our wedding there last weekend and it was absolutely incredible. Kate the manager went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we wanted and was with us every step of the way. I felt like it was my second home throughout the process and as if we were the only couple getting married there which is lovely. Our guests were absolutely wowed by the views and the castle itself. The bridal suite was perfection and super luxurious. We hired all four cottages for the occasion and they were so beautiful and spacious. We had lots of kids staying there and there was plenty of room for all of us and travel cots provided. Once again I can’t thank Kate enough for bringing to life the most magical day of our lives. We will be back for all of our anniversaries.
