Having traded in Naples for some 16 years, Nicola Buona & his team have turned their attention to Putney with the launch of Caparossa – the name means ‘red head’, a reference to the owner’s dad & his unusual red hair. A cured meat display cabinet & a glass-fronted wine cellar hold centre stage in the main eating area, & the menu aims to celebrate rustic Italian food in all its forms, from sharing plates of charcuterie & Neapolitan fried pizzas to battered vegetables & arancini (fried rice balls). Mains focus on UK-sourced pork & beef, as well as traditional south Italian pastas, while desserts promise homemade pastries & more besides. There are plans to roll out more outlets as time progresses.
