A laid back restaurant and bar, White Horse showcases a small yet refined menu that changes as the seasons do, and focuses on fresh, local produce. You'll feel at home and cosy here in Lincoln, and enjoy a lazy lunch in the orangery, or cosy up in the restaurant with a glass of wine. All dishes are made in house, and the accompaniments, whether that's a drink or sauce, are thought of with care, too.
Big sharing starters include a meat and cheese platter of curing rebel charcuterie, cheese, squash, chutney and focaccia, and a burrata with chimichurri, squash, raddish, sherry drizzle and bread. Individual portions include whipped cod roe with seaweed pearls, pirata loin and brioche, delicious sambal pork belly with pickled mango, crispy pork fat and green chilli, and chicken thighs in a Korean BBQ sauce with pickled cabbage and garlic yoghurt.
Mains at White Horse feature elevated takes on classics, like a beer glazed short rib with Jerusalem artichoke, treacle carrot, swiss chard, beer sauce and artichoke crisps, and squash and feta pie with truffle mash, hispi cabbage, confit carrot and date sauce. Something that the restaurant is particularly well known for, though, are the burgers. There's a classic cheeseburger made with an aged beef patty, American cheese, burger sauce and pickles in a seeded milk bun, with coleslaw and rosemary or spicy fries. You'll also find a honey buffalo chicken sandwich on the menu, and crispy tofu bahn mi burger.
On Sundays, there is a bistro beef rump roast, rolled pork shoulder, duo of the two, and a mushroom Wellington. All are served with roast potatoes, tenderstem broccoli, squash, mashed potato, cauliflower cheese, red wine sauce and a Yorkshire pudding.
