Nestled just off Holloway Road, the Landseer Arms stands as a charming Victorian gastropub that has been thoughtfully transformed into a community dining destination. Built in 1874, this beautiful Victorian building has undergone several incarnations over the years before finding its current identity in 2017.
The pub's interior retains its original Victorian character whilst incorporating modern gastropub sensibilities. The space features a woodfire and open kitchen, creating an inviting atmosphere where diners can watch their meals being prepared. The relaxed setting welcomes both casual drinkers and diners, with seating available at the bar for those waiting for tables during busier periods.
The Landseer Arms specialises in Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, offering an unpretentious menu that changes regularly. Alongside its main dinner service, The Landseer Arms is known for its daily changing lunch offer, available each day for a fixed price. You never quite know what you’re going to get, but options have previously included the likes of lamb kofte with black eye bean stew, tomato and romanesco spaghettini with parmesan, and Portuguese prawn and squid stew with sourdough.
The main menu showcases Spanish and Mediterranean influences with dishes such as Spanish olives, boquerones, chorizo with red wine and honey, and Padron peppers with flaked almonds for starters. Main courses include pork souvlaki with tzatziki and lentil salad, roast hake with tomato cardamom sauce and saffron rice, and dry-aged rump steak with fried potatoes and aioli.
The pub maintains its traditional roots with locally sourced beers and real ales, complemented by a carefully curated European wine list. The establishment is renowned for its exceptional Sunday roasts, making it a popular weekend destination for locals and visitors alike.
