Call The Lamb Tavern to make a booking on:
A stalwart among City watering holes with a history that long pre-dates its present Victorian setting, The Lamb fills with loyal & mostly suited fans at lunchtimes & after work. They
congregate in the glazed market avenue outside to sup Young’s Bitter, Directors & Bombardier ales or throng the atmospheric interior to nibble from sharing platters or munch on burgers. A tiled
stairway leads to a bright upstairs dining room, where a tartan carpet & framed prints of City views provide a sober setting for more filling dishes such as steak & kidney pud, slow-roast
lamb shank with wholegrain mustard mash or a mixed barbecue with pork ribs, chicken wings & corn on the cob. Sadly, service can be hit & miss.

Took 1 hour 20 minutes to bring starters so one of my guests had to leave. Wine was warm and when pomised a wine cooler it came after the bottle was finished. Food was very good when it arrived but waiter forgot to order one of the starters so after 1 hour 2o minutes one guest had to wait another 10 minutes. Scallops were lovely as was the fish but “chunky” chips were disgusting – about 4? × 2? and cremated. One guest asked for tap water and was refused – twice!
Really disappointed as staff were very disinterested and it could have been much better.
