Anokha London is a modern, elevated take on classic Indian cuisine, situated in the heart of the City of London. Surrounded by some of the capital's most glamorous and well-known landmarks, this award-winning dining concept brings together the old and new, located inside a grade II listed historic building, formerly a tea warehouse built in 1729 and owned by the infamous, East India Tea Company.
Today, things look a little different, with the restaurant taking a glamorous, statement approach to design with moody lighting, a dark, velvet-toned colour palette and smart checkerboard floor. A perfect place for date night, an impressive client meeting or even a party, Anokha London exudes luxury and sophistication.
In terms of the menu, expect authentic Indian flavours but with a contemporary twist. The team here have chosen to focus on the 21st-century's healthy eating movement, favouring lighter combinations and fresh ingredients, for a clean feel.
While the menu has a classic format, there are some specialist sections which aren't afraid to have a little fun. We particularly like the 'Old Favourites' selection, which includes dishes like chicken tikka masala, lamb jalfrezi and madras chicken, all cooked in succulent, homemade sauces. The Anokha specialities should also pique your interest, with delicious-sounding dishes like the Gulap Chilli Gosht which brings together barbecued cubes of lamb, cooked in a fresh garlic and chilli sauce, topped with coriander and crisp red chillies. Or, why not try the Achari Lamb Chops with tandoori roasted lamb chops cooked with Kashmiri chillies, ginger and dash of tangy pickle.
If you want to experience the best of Anokha London, check out the tasting menu which offers a selection of starters, followed by a main course of your choosing, a mixture of vegetables and sides of rice and bread. This way you get the cream of the crop, for a great price, too.
