Great service, value and food tonight as always. Loved the Prawn starter, Venison bourguignon was excellent and the Lemon Tiramasou was sharp and delicious. We all had a great time, with a relaxed attentive service.

The George is back to its best. The choices on the menu were excellent from the A’la Carte and a great value Christmas menu. Service was very friendly and not stuffy at all. There was plenty of other diners which added to the atmosphere. Drinks were brilliant with a superb Albariño wine. We had a mixture of Prawn cocktails and Roast pepper soup. Plenty of prawns made this great value. The mains equally generous with fantastic sea bream, roast pork belly and a lovely Turkey breast with a top pig in blanket. Great desserts of black Forrest trifle, ice cream and cheese but also Christmas pudding was available. Coffee and Tea to finish with but overall excellent value for money. We will definitely be going back.

I gave the food 4.5 as a number in the party had difficulty choosing a starter although the nibbles were quite large. The main courses again quite large but really tasty I had the jacobs ladder which could do with a description of what this is. Could not manage a dessert although one caught my eye. Should consider smaller portions.

The service from most was excellent but would have liked more concentration from the person taking the order as was distracted with what was happening elsewhere.

The dining room really benefits from all the changes made.

overall excellent meal and really pleasant place to eat will definitely go again.

This special Game with wine pairing was just delicious. Loved the parsnip tart with caremalised onion, apple sauce and venison was perfectly cooked. This was followed with partridge a pheasant. Service was spot on wines brilliant especially the Rioja. Port and cheese finished us off along with truffles and coffee. Overall complete bargain and learnt a lot from Amps wines in Oundle.

The staff are excellent, friendly, attentive and not stuffy. The food is very good, loved the tempura prawns and the Pork Belly. It was really flavoursome. Just the right amount of apple. All of us thought the portion on the mains a little large so you will not go home hungry. My wife love her bream with prawns and risotto. To finish the trio of chocolate mouse with sorbets was both sweet and sharp. Our friend went for the panne cotta and loved that too. There was a great selection of wines and drinks and overall good. It is a pity that more people were not there but the refresh of the decor gives The George a much better feel.
