About

Millworks in Cambridge is a modern brasserie restaurant boasting a lovely spot overlooking the old millpond on the Granta River. It manages to preserve the charm and character of a historic building, while seamlessly blending contemporary decor, bringing a comfortability you can only enjoy thanks to careful renovations.

A multi-faceted space, this soaring building has gorgeous original features inside such as exposed brick, large windows, different areas but the most impressive of all is the turning water mill wheel, still in use, protected by a glass screen. You can see the water sploshing beneath it as you eat your lunch. Cosy leather booths, mid-century seating and cool artwork only add to the vibes, making this a spot you could easily pop in for a drink or spend the whole night.

The menu leans heavily into dishes which are cooked using the in-house charcoal oven, while working with local suppliers and businesses is also important to the team. Starters begin with small plates which the team encourage diners to share, mixing and matching to try a little bit of everything. For example, you could try the pulled pork scrumpet with gooseberry compote, alongside the steamed Shetland mussels which come in luxurious leek and cider cream with bread and fries, as well as the buttermilk crispy squid.

If you're interested in charcoal-led cooking, opt for mains such as the chargrilled chicken supreme with potato, butterbean and chorizo stew, or steaks such as the 227g Picanha or 280g rib eye steak. Other main dish options include butterflied seabream, seasonal pie of the day which is served with chive mash and greens, as well as harissa lamb shoulder with cous cous, grilled flat bread, babaghanoush and white bean hummus.

Plus, if you're looking for somewhere special to throw a party, Millworks has plenty of space for private parties - just ask the team.
