What was previously Ping, a basement bar dedicated to table tennis, has taken on a fun new dimension with a spring 2015 reboot as The Game. You can still work up a sweat here, whacking little white balls to and fro in a beer pong marathon, as well as watch live sporting action on screens, but you’ll now also find classic arcade machines and all manner of 1990s trivial pursuits (Giant Jenga, anyone?). Music keeps pace, so expect hi-steppin’ urban, hip-hop and r&b grooves, spun here until 2am at weekends. Drinks are similarly fun and funky, ranging from beer towers, shots, hardshakes (alco-milkshakes), and the likes of basil and honey Daiquiri, to cocktails served in cereal boxes, and Prosecco-topped vodka fruit punch bowls. Serious competitors like to keep up their carb intake, so there are pizzas from £9, plus salads, dips, crostini, charcuterie boards and classic American cheesecakes.
