The Dusty Knuckle, a bakery, cafe and social enterprise, has gained something of a cult following since it originally opened in Dalston back in 2014. Now, the team have opened a second site on Green Lanes in Haringey, which is billed as a ‘big sister’ to the much loved Dalston original.
Sitting between Manor House and Turnpike Lane, The Dusty Knuckle Haringey is a welcoming and relaxed space, which includes a bread oven and a wood-fired pizza oven (the latter of which was built by the team themselves). On the menu, you can expect to find plenty of freshly baked bread (including the signature potato sourdough) and other pastries, while on weekends, an all-day breakfast menu includes bacon sandwiches, homemade granola with yoghurt and focaccia topped with egg, pickled chilli, spring onion and cheddar.
Come lunchtime, the menu expands to include stacked sandwiches, warming bowls of soups and vibrant salads, plus a few chef’s specials which change day to day. During the evening, The Dusty Knuckle Haringey serves up traditional Italian snacks such as marinated anchovies and crispy sage leaves, as well as its tempting selection of rustic pizzas - think a veggie white pizza topped with ricotta, fior di latte, potatoes and sweet onion and a spicy nduja pizza crowned with the team’s own house nduja and honey. To help you wash it all down, you can try a glass (or bottle) from the restaurant’s simple and succinct list of wines.
The Dusty Knuckle was originally founded by three friends - Max, Rebecca and Daisy - in 2014 and one of its missions is to help young offenders into employment and improve their job prospects. The team achieves this by offering training and employment with the team, teaching young offenders valuable skill sets and helping them to feel a part of something.
