Perched above the breathtaking Dwyryd Estuary, The Dining Room at Hotel Portmeirion offers one of the most refined dining experiences in Wales. Set within the historic Hotel Portmeirion, the restaurant is renowned for combining Art Deco elegance with exceptional modern Welsh cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, it provides a luxurious yet relaxed setting for everything from romantic dinners to family celebrations and special occasions.
Redesigned by Sir Terence Conran, the Art Deco dining room features walls of grey French walnut, a polished light oak floor and a blush rose ceiling edged with soft green cornice detailing. The large picture windows flood the room with natural light and open onto sweeping views of the estuary below. Tableware designed by Sophie Conran adds a final touch of contemporary sophistication.
Executive head chef Mark Threadgill and head chef Daniel Griffiths lead a talented team dedicated to showcasing Welsh produce at its very best. The menu draws on the region’s abundance of local and foraged ingredients, blending French technique with delicate Japanese influences.
Expect starters such as monkfish with braised leeks or hay-roasted celeriac with apple and blue cheese, followed by mains like Welsh lamb loin with charred aubergine caviar or halibut with kombu and potato crumb. Finish with dark chocolate delice or passion fruit and banana soufflé with lemongrass and kefir lime ice cream.
Guests can also enjoy the six-course gourmet tasting menu, indulgent Sunday roasts with all the trimmings and elegant afternoon teas. With two AA Rosettes, panoramic estuary views and impeccable service, The Dining Room at Hotel Portmeirion promises an unforgettable fine dining experience on the Welsh coast.
