The Bulls Head in Chiswick is part of the Chef & Brewer collection, located on a picturesque bank on the River Thames. The pub restaurant itself was once an 18th century tavern, and it is said that Oliver Cromwell himself once used the inn. It’s no surprise that, being part of this famed pub chain, The Bulls Head has a very reasonably priced, pub classic menu.
Starters include delicious crispy squid with roasted garlic mayonnaise and charred lemon, a soup of the day with croutons and white bloomer bread, and battered chicken strips with a honey barbecue dip. If you fancy picking at plates with the rest of the table, order chef’s board sharing platter, with cottage pie croquettes, honey and ale barbecue chicken strips, honey and mustard chipolatas, crispy squid and garden patch hummus with sourdough shards. Onto your main dish, there are plenty of classics to choose from. You've got the ever popular cumberland sausages served with buttery mash, garden peas, gravy and topped with carrot crisps, and vegetable grill with a sage butternut squash steak, flat field mushroom, roasted onion, spiced sweet potatoes, charred courgette, garden peas and grilled tomato.
On Sundays you can pop into The Bulls Head to enjoy a delicious roast dinner, whether you opt for the 7-hour slow cooked rib of beef served on the bone, roast beef rump, turkey breast, pork loin, a trio of three, or woodland mushroom bourguignon Wellington. All meat roasts are served with garlic and rosemary duck fat roast potatoes, roasted root vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding, sausage meat stuffing, gravy, carrot and swede mash and seasonal greens. Finish off with a trio of British classic puddings – a mini selection of strawberry Eton mess with raspberry coulis, sherry trifle and jam roly poly pudding, served with a hot, creamy jug of custard.
