Owner, Ben Squire, opened The Boathouse Cafe, founded on a life-long passion for fishing. At the age of 21, with the help of a £1000 grant from The Princes Trust, Ben purchased a fishing boat and started a small business taking the first mackerel and deep-sea fishing trips in Plymouth. Since then, the business has flourished and he now owns a fleet of cruise boats, fishing boats and ferries, connecting Devon and Cornwall.
Ben's love of fishing and seafood, inspired him to open The Boathouse, within the arches that were once his fisherman's stores. Now lovingly renovated, The Boathouse is home to a bar, restaurant, takeaway and fishmongers, serving the fish that's still caught locally on Ben's boats!
