The Boathouse Cafe is an independent restaurant and cafe on the banks of the River Wey serving seasonal menus and creative drinks. A family-run enterprise, this charming spot opened its doors in 2023 as a place to work, eat and socialise with friends, offering a welcoming hub for people to come together over great food. The Boathouse Cafe heroes a strong sense of community in everything that it does, working with charities and community groups to share resources and support one another.
Alongside the main restaurant is a beautiful terrace offering views of the river - perfect for dining in the summer. It’s open during the day from Tuesday to Sunday and extends its hours to the evening from Thursday to Saturday.
The team takes inspiration from the seasons to create their menus, which means that the dishes are constantly changing to reflect what’s fresh and available. Breakfast is served until 11am, and features light bites, pancakes and hot dishes, from artisan pastries to a full Riverside English. While a simple, seasonal lunch menu spans sandwiches, salads and sides. Look out for the likes of a fish brioche roll with homemade tartare sauce, and pork belly focaccia with crackling, mustard mayo and pickled red cabbage.
The evening menu rotates with the seasons, and features nibbles, starters, mains and desserts. Examples of dishes you might expect to see on the winter menu are a wild mushroom and blue cheese tart with poached leeks, truffle oil and toasted hazelnuts, grilled salmon with horseradish cream, cauliflower, beetroot and balsamic puree, and miso glazed cod with black rice and a soy and ginger dressing. Elsewhere, a selection of nibbles and sharing boards are available if you fancy something lighter with a drink.
Both vegetarian and vegan options are available, and dishes can be tweaked to suit dietary requirements if required.
