Foxhills is an idyllic, award-winning country club in Surrey, surrounded by 400 acres of jaw-dropping countryside, with a spa, tennis courts, Championship golf course and selections of restaurants - including a glamorous afternoon tea - to boot.
So, whether you're staying at Foxhills for a few days and letting your hair down completely, or heading over for the afternoon to mark a special occasion, the afternoon tea is well worth trying. Served Friday to Sunday, it starts traditionally, with a selection of savoury sandwiches including marinated cucumber on brown bread with cream cheese, alongside ham, cheese, honey mustard and arugula on brioche bread, as well as smoked salmon with dill and lemon zest on tomato bread, followed by egg salad with watercress on white bread.
Scones, again, are pleasingly traditional with both classically plain and golden raisin, smothered with strawberry jam and dollops of clotted cream. But, the best is yet to come, with am exciting array of sweet treats and pastries. Delve into an orange and milk chocolate dome, alongside a sticky treacle tart and fresh berry mini bundt cake. We think the blueberry cheesecake sounds rather good, too. All of this can be enjoyed with an english Breakfast tea, or you can upgrade to include a glass of English sparkling wine.
What's more, the team at Foxhills have even created a child-friendly afternoon tea which, though still delicious and filling, features wholesome combinations and more familiar flavour combinations. Sandwiches, for example, include roasted chicken and pesto on white bread, alongside ham and cheese on tomato bread, as well as indulgent Nutella smeared across brown bread. For little ones, sweets include strawberry macarons, mango cheesecake and chocolate eclairs, as well as a slice of pineapple upside down cake, for a retro twist.
What's more, the stunning stationery and crockery is made especially for the venue, covered in detailed drawings by resident artist Annabel Hocking for a truly special finish.
