Six by Nico in Deansgate, Manchester, offers a fresh and affordable take on the tasting menu experience, brought to life by Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone. The concept is simple but clever: every six weeks, the entire six-course tasting menu is reinvented around a new theme, memory or destination, giving guests a new reason to return again and again. It’s a perfect pick for special occasions, date nights, family dinners, or a midweek treat with friends or colleagues.
The current theme is The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, which reimagines classic dishes with a whimsical twist. Expect plates such as ‘We’re All Mad Here’ (chicken-fat doughnuts with roast chicken juices), ‘Caterpillar’s Secret Garden’ (BBQ hispi cabbage, smoked potato terrine and taramasalata), and ‘Jam First, Logic Later’ (burnt toast ice cream with summer strawberries and jammy dodger).
On Sundays, the themed Mad Hatter’s Roast adds a playful spin to the traditional roast dinner, with dishes like toad in the hole with smoky bacon sausage, and crisp pig head with apple and fennel.
The six-course menu is very affordable, with optional wine pairings and vegetarian alternatives available. There’s also a shorter four-course lunch version.
The interiors are elegant and atmospheric, with dark wooden floors, gold accents, deep leather seating and a long open bar creating a cosy, luxurious feel. Statement lighting and warm textures make it feel inviting yet refined.
Six by Nico Deansgate is open Tuesday to Thursday from 5pm to 10.45pm, and Friday to Sunday from 12pm to 11.45pm. Closed on Mondays, this creative restaurant is a standout in Manchester’s dining scene for those looking for flavour, flair and fun.
