Part of Exmouth Market’s foodie enclave, Santoré does its stuff as a busy, noisy and cramped neighbourhood trattoria with utilitarian brown furniture, a showpiece pizza oven and legions of
ebullient waiters. Generous plates of antipasti from the buffet could precede Neapolitan-style pasta (linguine with clams, pappardelle with wild mushrooms) or a traditional secondi – perhaps calf’s
liver with gnocchi and crispy onions or sea bream fillet with mussels cherry tomatoes. However, most people look to the oven for familiar-sounding pizzas (sold by weight or length), calzone and
panuozzi (baked dough with fillings such as smoked mozzarella, sautéed aubergine and rocket). To finish, tiramisu and sorbets are par for the course. Handy for Sadler’s Wells.
