Having opened back in 2014 as a hearty little Malaysian joint on Euston Road, Roti King has since expanded across London, becoming known for its flaky roti and rich curries. Its Edinburgh outpost marks its first site in Scotland, situated just off Princes Street.
As a walk-ins only, street food spot, Roti King Edinburgh is designed to be a casual eatery, where guests can swing by for a quick bite and catch up with friends over some delicious snacks. Princes Street is the main shopping street in Edinburgh, and Roti King’s dynamic dining experience is well-suited to its vibrant surroundings. Whether it’s a post-work dinner, or a midweek date night, Roti King is an approachable, flexible and flavourful restaurant in the heart of the city.
The menu at Roti King is split between roti, rice and noodle dishes as well as lighter side plates. As the name would suggest, Roti King is known for its excellent roti recipe, which is served alongside your choice of kari (curry) or stuffed with dhal. Curries include a traditional beef rendang, as well as fish, chicken, and mutton, while dhal comes in the form of lamb, or spinach and cheese. If you’d prefer a rice base, there’s classic nasi goreng as well as nasi lemak and pulled shiitake rendang. Alternatively, you can also order noodles - think mee goreng and curry laksa. Sides are just as tempting, with spicy peanut salad, special fried chicken, and stir fried morning glory to choose from.
The roti offering doesn’t stop there - the dessert menu is a selection of roti with your choice of filling, including sweet condensed milk, warm banana, and Malaysian coconut jam. Signature drinks feature Malaysian pulled tea, lemon tea over ice, and Milo ice chocolate. There are cocktails, wine, beer and soft drinks too.
