About

Step into a world of whimsy at Richmond Tea Rooms, a beloved Manchester gem inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. From an enchanted forest area to a woodland themed room, guests can enjoy freshly made sandwiches, cakes and treats in a fantastical setting.

This award-winning tea room is known for its theatrical interiors - step into the enchanted forest room and you’ll be greeted with twinkling lights and plush seating, while the orangery garden is warm and cosy even through winter. This visual feast offers a theatrical escape from the everyday, with every corner designed to transport guests down the rabbit hole. Richmond Tea Rooms hosts a range of events, from burlesque to drag queen performances, making it a favourite for celebrations and lively afternoon teas.

The menu spans breakfast, brunch, main dishes, sandwiches, salads and sweet treats as well as the signature afternoon tea. Each dish is a handcrafted tribute to British tradition with a twist - freshly prepared sandwiches, delicate cakes, and indulgent treats are all made in-house. There’s also plenty of options for including vegan and gluten-free diners as well as a comprehensive kids menu. To drink, there’s a variety of loose-leaf and special blend teas from all over the world as well as coffee and milkshakes, which can be spiked with your choice of alcohol. There’s also a range of cocktails, including the Alice in Wonderland ‘Teapot Cocktails’ as well as fizz, wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks.

Founders Nick Curtis and Andrew Underwood have created a space that’s inclusive, imaginative and full of heart, with a team that prides itself on warm, attentive service. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Richmond Tea Rooms offers a magical moment in the city - where tea is served with flair, and every visit feels like stepping into a storybook.
