Set within Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopian Spa in Wilmington, RG’s Restaurant offers a contemporary take on cuisine, drawing on local Kentish ingredients wherever possible. Found on the 15-acre grounds of the hotel, complete with landscaped gardens, the menus offer up familiar favourites all day, from breakfast and lunch through to dinner. Here, you’ll find a main dining room along with a terrace that’s perfect for summer, spilling out into the sunshine and overlooking the gardens.
In terms of food, you might kick off your dinner here with rosmarina olives or artisan bread with roasted chicken skin and salted butter, before heading on to a range of seasonal starters. The RG’s Restaurant menu comes into its own here, complete with a line up of dishes that stretch from tiger prawn cocktail with baby lettuce, crayfish tails, North Atlantic prawns and Marie Rose sauce to roasted cauliflower velouté with cauliflower beignets and soft herbs.
As for mains, you might expect to see roasted St Georges chicken with truffle mash, cauliflower puree and a red wine jus; olive oil confit Cornish cod with spelt risotto, sea vegetables, lemongrass, and lime leaf dashi; and roasted Scottish salmon, which comes with a ratatouille tartlet, young courgette, and sour cream. Alternatively, go for one of the steak options, known to include flat iron steak with roscoff onion creamed potato and glazed Yukon carrot, and cote de boeuf to share, complete with all the trimmings above plus burnt cherry tomatoes, and a choice of peppercorn sauce or red wine jus. Desserts at RG’s Restaurant, meanwhile, might offer up the likes of clementine cake, tiramisu kiss, or an intriguing ‘Winter sensation’.
Vegans will be glad to hear that RG’s also offers an entirely plant-based a la carte selection. And on Sundays, patrons can expect a two or three-course Sunday roast, with all the proper sides and accoutrements.
