Portree is the capital of Skye, which at 50-miles long is the largest of the Inner Hebrides. Situated on the east side, this small town looks over a sheltered bay and is a really pleasant spot to while away a few hours. Being just a stone’s throw from the infamous Old Man of Storr walk, Portree also provides the perfect pitstop to refuel before or after a hike.

As with many of Skye’s best restaurants, the restaurants in Portree more often than not show off some spectacular produce. Being an island community, the seafood here is stellar, so if you’re a fan of shellfish you’re in for a treat. Lobster, langoustine and crab are all commonplace at restaurants in Portree, while foraged ingredients also often find a home across the board. With local herbs, sea vegetables and berries in plentiful supply, Portee is a bit of a dream foodie destination.
