You’ll find Oliveto on Elizabeth Street, dishing out pizzas, alongside Sardinian-leaning pasta, meat and seafood dishes. Just above, on the first floor, is Joe’s Bar, which makes a great spot for pre- or post-dinner drinks, complete with a cosy vibe and open fire. Oliveto, meanwhile, emerges as one of Belgravia’s best Italian spots, complete with al fresco seating in the summer and classy interiors worthy of it’s post code.
Inside, Oliveto is all draped white table cloths and subtle nods to Italy. On the walls, you’ll spot silhouettes featuring amphorae, shields, and pastoral scenes that smack of Latin literature and ceramic art. The monochrome effect is charming, elevated with elegant glassware and candles on every table.
Pizza is the speciality at Oliveto, so you can guarantee there’s a lot of choice. You’ll find familiar classics here, stretching from margherita and pepperoni to funghi, salsiccia, and quatro formaggi. That said, there are plenty of more unusual combinations too, including bresaola, gorgonzola and speck, and nuraghe, which features mozzarella, fresh cherry tomatoes, Sardinian fiore sardo cheese and guanciale.
Elsewhere, the Oliveto menu offers up a range of antipasti, complete with Sardinian bottarga with white pickled anchovies in a lemon and oil dressing; steamed sea bass salad with tomatoes and celery, and carpaccio di manzo - raw beef thinly sliced and served with rocket, parmesan and a truffle oil dressing.
Pasta dishes offer an alternative to pizza, including spaghetti alla bottarga, tagliatelle al funghi, and truffle gnocchi, while traditional mains include veal Milanese, saltimbocca alla sarda, and chargrilled yellowfin tuna with a rocket and tomato salad. As for dessert, you might find the likes of tiramisu, raspberry panna cotta, hot chocolate fondant with creme fraiche, and sebada, which sees Sardinian cheese fritters served hot and drizzled with honey.
