Drawing on the bold flavours of Indian street food, Nutmeg Street Kitchen in Bristol offers a menu shaped by spice, smoke and traditional cooking techniques.
Inspired by influences from the Himalayan region and various Indian states, the kitchen uses methods such as wood fire cooking and natural smoking to deliver depth and authenticity across both daytime and evening menus, alongside a curated tasting experience.
Inside, the restaurant is spacious yet inviting, with a warm, contemporary feel. Dusky pink walls and tiled details add softness, while wooden booth seating and pops of yellow bring colour and contrast. Large rattan lampshades hang overhead, and a central open bar anchors the room, creating a sociable focal point. In the evening, softer lighting gives the space a more intimate, cosy atmosphere, complemented by greenery throughout.
The lunch menu focuses on well-known dishes, including chicken tikka masala, lal maas and paneer makhani, typically served with steamed rice and the option to add sides such as saffron rice, cheese and chilli naan, roti, poppadoms and chutneys.
In the evening, the offering expands to include a wider selection of small plates and mains. Starters include onion bhajis, samosa chaat and tandoori chilli chicken or chilli paneer, while mains feature dishes such as murgh, tandoori salmon and pork tikkey. A range of sides allows diners to build a meal suited to their appetite.
A tasting menu provides a more structured way to experience the kitchen, beginning with a small bite before moving through dishes such as gilafi seekh lamb, Tangra chilli chicken and tandoori salmon with rice, finishing with a Nutmeg trio of roast chicken, lamb and prawns served with garlic naan.
Drinks include wine, beer including low and non-alcoholic options, flavourful cocktails and soft drinks.
