Natty's Jerk Brighton is a Caribbean restaurant on Brighton's Preston Road, beloved for serving classic, comforting Caribbean classics, from curry goat to Jamaican patties.
Natty’s Jerk is built on heart, community and seriously good food. Founded by Natty, a former London black cab driver turned home cook, the concept began in a Portsmouth kitchen in 2017 before quickly outgrowing its walls. From market stalls to full restaurants, that grassroots energy remains core to the brand.
Interiors are suitably colourful, brought to life by hanging foliage and pot plants. There's a mixture of counter space and tables for those that want to dine-in, though the site is relatively small and designed primarily for takeaway.
Brighton diners can find Natty’s Jerk on Preston Road, where the menu focuses on build-your-own box meals for dine-in or takeaway. Jerk chicken is the star, delivering smoky, spiced heat, while jerk jackfruit offers a plant-based alternative that doesn’t compromise on flavour. Both can be served in a brioche bun with shredded lettuce, grilled tomato, Jerk BBQ sauce and the house Mangonnaise, or paired with rice and peas, fried plant’in, Caribbean-style cucumber salad and apple and mango slaw.
Elsewhere, curry goat provides something richer and slow-cooked, while ital curry celebrates traditional plant-based Caribbean cooking. Sides are not to be missed, from sweet plant’in to fluffy rice and peas. Jamaican patties - filled with beef, chicken or vegetables - make for a satisfying add-on, while the Mac & Cheezus, loaded with jerk chicken, sounds gloriously indulgent.
Drinks lean into fun, with frozen piña coladas, strawberry daiquiris and a Miami Vice that combines both, plus classic Caribbean sodas like Ting and ginger beer.
