Mondo To Go is the latest project from the cult sandwich duo behind Mondo Sando, bringing their bold, joyfully overstuffed sandos to a new home in Deptford. Expanding their South London footprint, the team distils everything that made their original sites a hit into a compact grab-and-go format, complete with a 50-seat outdoor area designed for al fresco sandwich-eating as soon as the weather allows.
The menu gathers all the Mondo signatures – the Mondo Frango, Mondo Combo, the Everything Cutlet – alongside their much-loved sides including House Pickles and Latkes. Deptford locals also get exclusive specials, created specifically for the SE8 crowd and unavailable at The Grove House Tavern or Café Mondo. As ever, expect big flavours, smart riffs on classic combinations, and a commitment to doing the simple things very, very well.
Drinks play a livelier role here, with the team serving pints, pouring slushies and mixing a rotation of house-made sodas and lemonades. Think grapefruit green tea slush, cherry lemonade, spiced apple sodas – a fun, free-wheeling line-up built to cut through the richness of the sandwiches.
The look and feel stay true to the Mondo universe: a playful palette, retro nods to caffs and slice joints, and plenty of character courtesy of designer Tom Cummings, who also shaped Café Mondo. Inside, guests can order and mill about; outside, tables for 50 encourage lingering, sharing and general sarnie-related activity.
Founders Jack Macrae and Viggo Blegvad bring plenty of pedigree to the new site, following successful pub residencies, a permanent kitchen at The Grove House Tavern and the opening of Café Mondo in 2024. Mondo To Go marks the next step in their South London expansion, offering their sandwiches to a growing radius both in person and via delivery.
