Vagabond Urban Winery in Canada Water is the UK’s largest urban winery, taking over a vast space in the refurbished Dock Shed. Having started out as a small wine shop in Fulham back in 2010, Vagabond now boasts restaurants across London, including Shoreditch and Fulham. Its latest site, is the group's largest, and most ambitious project yet, boasting a whopping 6,000 sq ft of floor space, and featuring its signature self-pour wine station, a Mediterranean-inspired menu, and an on-site winery dedicated to producing Vagabond wines.
Known for its wide range of self-pour wines, guests can choose from over 100 wines by the glass. English varieties are made on-site, with grapes sourced locally from vineyards within two hours of London and harvested by hand by winemaker Jose. Vagabond uses minimal intervention to produce white, rose, skin contact (orange) and sparkling wines, poured straight from the barrel. Wine tasting is made easy using a contactless purchasing method and tasting notes attached to each variety. The spacious location combines on-site winemaking with an award-winning wine bar experience, bringing a fresh, authentic and engaging vibe to East London’s hospitality scene.
A Mediterranean-inspired menu complements the wine offering, with a variety of nibbles, small plates and sharing boards. For lighter fare, enjoy Gnocco Fritto, Gordal olives and Padron peppers. Small plates feature tapas-style dishes, like patatas bravas, chorizo with a Vagabond red wine reduction, and croquetas Iberico, while sharing boards include cheese, charcuterie and Italian-style produce, like burrata and pesto. Vagabond Canada Water also has a considered lunch offering, including steak and fries with chimichurri, burrata salad bowl, and enoki mushroom with patatas bravas.
Whether you’re a true oenophile, or just dipping a toe in the world of wine, Vagabond Canada Water is a fun, welcoming wine bar experience, perfect for wine tastings, trying new varieties, and exploring English winemaking.
