Mollie's was established in 2019 by the Soho House Group who saw a gap in the market. Instead of super ritzy members club (which they've already nailed) the group turned its eye to a lower cost offering that still packs a punch with expansive, indulgent menu, well thought out spaces and that classic Soho House stamp of style. A British take on the American motel and diner, Mollie's oxfordshire and Bristol locations are on the road, but Manchester is their first city centre outpost - which is exciting isn't it?
Instead of a motel vibe, like the other Mollie's, this branch feels more like a boutique hotel. It takes over the iconic Old Granada Studios, a legendary, landmark building which has been frequented by everyone from The Beatles to the Sex Pistols. Here, guests can book into one of the 128 design-led rooms and suites, or simply enjoy the diner restaurant and chic cocktail bar which gives this buzzing city another watering hole.
In typical diner style, the restaurant is open from early morning 'til late with an aesthetic that's inspired by 1950s Americana. Think plush leather booths, neon signs and mid-century furniture. There's even a private dining room that works for birthday dinners, brand events or even a stylish meeting room - if treating your team to an off-site day.
At Mollie's the menu is massive, so let's get on to what you can expect. For breakast there's a bit of everything from housemade granola with fruit or a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel for something later. You can't beat classics such as French toast with lemon cream and blueberry compote, waffles with bacon, egg and maple, and eggs - anyway you want them.
For lunch into dinner there's salads like chicken ceaser and green goddess with avocado and tenderstem. Across the grill, we like the sound of the roasted half chicken with chicken schmaltz potatoes and tobaco onions, or else the British grass-fed feather steak with beef fat fries. For dessert, sink your teeth into a pistachio and cherry sundae or classic apple pie with ice cream. Yum.
