About

Enjoy a delicious Indian dining experience that has been inspired by the grand state banquets of days gone by, featuring legacy recipes from the kitchens of India.

The dishes at MOKA are carefully crafted, infusing subtle yet complex flavours with unique culinary skills and traditional influences, ensuring an authentic and delicious Indian dining experience. MOKA signature dishes include a whole leg of spring lamb, marinated in a mixture of malt vinegar, cinnamon, royal cumin and black pepper braised in the marinade, chargrilled to perfection in tandoor, served with masala fries and an Indian salad. For something a bit more traditional, try the tandoori chicken, a famous Indian dish of chargrilled chicken marinated in yoghurt and Kashmiri chilli spiced marinade, served with masala fries, too. And last but not least, enjoy a bit of a twist on a classic British dish - the machli 'cod and chips', made with fried masala black cod that is bursting with flavours of carom seed and kebab masala served with the regular sides.

On the dinner menu, you'll find starters of salt and pepper broccoli with garlic, shallots and black pepper, before enjoying dishes of lotus stem in honey chilli and then moka mogo - which is a dish of fried cassava chips, garlic, green chilli, chaat masala, black pepper and lime. Perhaps you'll then order the marinated lamb tacos with malt vinegar, royal cumin and fenugreek, or momos, which are steamed dumplings with a savoury filling and house special relish. The aloo pakora is a dish of potato fritters with Bengal gram flour, spicy tomato and tamarind chutney. Grill and clay oven dishes include the classic dahi ke kebab, a dish of semolina crusted hung curd medallions with mango chunks and crunchy potatoes.

Avoid this awful place

Absolutely awful service received from Manvir and his bunch of Goonie waiters. We had a table booked for TWO hours. But from the moment we got there we felt super rushed. I get it's a Saturday night and the need to turn over tables are important but it should not be to the detriment of the service to the most important people. The paying public. The whole way through we just kept getting interrupted and forcefully pushed through. And then at 8:30 we were asked if of we were done when we just got another round of drinks and food was on the table. 15 mi. Later the bill was present when none of our group asked for it. For context the ladies next to us were before us and were still there after us. And they were a smaller group. We later found out those ladies had the same issue with Manvir also and he allowed them to stay longer. At 9pm Manvir (who I believe suffers from small man syndrome) was standing over my friend and said I am not moving until you get up. Is that how you treat your customers?!? The tone and mannerisms and behaviour was far to aggressive and it really put a damper on the night. Rather than taking feedback Manvir would constantly answer back and shout as usual when our tone was normal. Quiet frankly it shocked me to know he was the manager of the place. The food was at best a 4/10 and the kicker was the added service charge on top which while optional. No option was given to take it off. I will not be returning here again and I'll make sure I'll be telling my friends and family about the experience we received.

A taste of India

Visited Moka on Sat 13th Nov 2021 having waited for its opening having been an avid customer at the sister retaurant Social Dhaba. The food was amazing with a hint of fusion. The mini tacos were superb as was the main dish of Martaban Ka Lahori Gosht - Lamb in a clay pot. The staff were excellent even though we were a table of 12 nothing was to much trouble and other tables did not suffer due to the number of staff utilised. The cocktail list is impressive and the bar is a great area to have pre dinner drinks also.

We will definatly return but now will have to share our time between the 2 restaurants although Northwood is closer ;o) given the quality of the food it was very reasonable also. If you are looking for your normal indian dishes you will not find them here, if you aks for an onion bahji or chicken vindaloo you will get a blank look !! This is the closest I have come to eating in Mumbai a few years ago.
