Nestled on Bridge Street in the heart of Hereford, Mea Via is a stylish Italian-inspired pasta bar that brings an elegant yet relaxed dining experience to this cathedral city.
Located in Hereford’s historic centre, close to the River Wye and Cathedral Green, the restaurant blends effortlessly into the area’s heritage ambience. It’s a modern gem on a Georgian street, offering an inviting counterpoint to sightseeing and shopping.
The star of the show at Mea Via is its artisan, egg-rich pasta, lovingly handcrafted daily by an in-house pastaio. Drawing on Italian tradition and tipped with Japanese influences, each delicate ribbon and pocket of pasta is shaped using time-honoured techniques and the finest Herefordshire ingredients, delivering a refined, flavour-forward meal. The menu showcases that fresh approach: delicate starters, housemade pasta dishes that change with the season, and a carefully curated list of Italian wines. To start, there’s a traditional bread basket with aromatic butter, cured wild seabass, chicken cotoletta with citrus mayo, and burrata with honey rhubarb and roasted hazelnuts. Pasta dishes range from gnocchi with tomato sauce and basil to spaghetti with crispy guanciale, pecorino and black pepper. To finish, there’s tiramisu, dark chocolate mousse with olive oil and salt, and cannolo with hazelnut namelaka.
Beyond pasta, Mea Via provides an immersive culinary experience through private pasta-making masterclasses and bespoke events for groups, ideal for celebrations or team-building. Their classes can be hosted at your preferred location or at their restaurant while private events can be customised with a menu and experience to suit your occasion. They also offer ‘Cook at Home’ boxes, complete with pasta, sauce and instructions and available for next-day collection at Hereford’s Butter Market stall.
Whether you’re after a relaxing evening meal, a private event or a takeaway pasta experience, Mea Via delivers Italian craftsmanship with local flair.
