Maki & Ramen Soho is a Japanese restaurant serving ramen, sushi and a range of traditional dishes in the heart of London’s West End. Open for all-day dining, including lunch, dinner and late-night meals, it provides a lively setting for casual dining close to Chinatown and Leicester Square.
The restaurant was founded by Teddy Lee, whose concept combines traditional Japanese flavours with a relaxed, contemporary atmosphere. The menu centres on ramen and sushi alongside a variety of small plates and comforting noodle dishes, with vegetarian-friendly options available. The group’s ramen broths are simmered for hours to achieve deep flavour, while noodles are prepared fresh for each bowl.
Inside, the dining room blends industrial elements with decorative touches. Burgundy leather booth seating sits alongside wooden tables and chairs, while wood panelling and pendant lighting create a warm atmosphere. Exposed pipework across the ceiling gives the space an urban edge, and an open kitchen allows diners to watch chefs preparing dishes. A large ceiling installation of white and pink blossoms creates a striking focal point above the room, while a living wall of greenery adds further colour and texture.
The menu features ramen bowls such as black garlic tonkotsu and the restaurant’s spicy Hell Ramen, alongside dishes including chicken karaage served on homemade noodles, chicken katsu curry, vegan katsu curry and chicken yakisoba. Small plates range from dynamite prawns and prawn tempura to gyoza, edamame, kimchi and pumpkin croquettes. The sushi offering includes rolls such as green dragon, tiger and soft-shell crab, alongside salmon teriyaki and California rolls. Nigiri options feature tuna, salmon, scallop and eel, while sashimi and sushi sets are also available.
Desserts include chocolate matcha brownie, banana fritter with vanilla ice cream and mochi in flavours such as chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and passionfruit. The drinks list features cocktails, mocktails, Japanese sake and whisky, beers, shooters, bubble tea, matcha drinks, wine and soft drinks.
