SquareMeal Review of Laughing Gravy

Fans of silent movies may remember that Laughing Gravy was Laurel & Hardy's dog in the film of the same name; it was also one of the slang pseudonyms for illegal booze during Prohibition. But this revamped eatery is no joke when it comes to the business of food, hospitality and drinking. Occupying the ground floor of an old foundry building within easy reach of the Old and Young Vic theatres, it offers seasonal British flavours aplenty – from duck and rabbit Scotch eggs to peanut flapjacks via scallops with champ or cider-marinated lamb rump with broad-bean piccalilli, truffled peas and parsnip hash. Steaks, burgers and salads make up the numbers, with Neal’s Yard cheeses to round things off. Alternatively, head to the buzzy bar for sociable drinks or an after-hours’ nightcap. ’Professional, friendly service’ is the icing on the cake.

On Blackfriars road - the food is sublime, it's gastronomic ecstasy! You can't help but moan as you eat at the delicious dishes they consistently produce.

A Tale of Three Beetroots
Not only were they delicious, the waitress found out the varieties for me. You don't get that every day. The Beef burger main course was succulent and well-cooked, great chips, but the extras I ordered where on the skimpy side.

Enjoyed a superb lunch, celebrating my wife's Birthday. Excellent food, served professionally & in a friendly manner. It was our first visit & we were very impressed. Would definitely go again. Recommended unreservedly. Mr. & Mrs. Paterson Our second visit was ‘rudely’ interrupted by our house alarm being activated & we had to leave in something of a hurry! Hopefully, our third visit to celebrate my Birthday will go more smoothly. If the food & service is as good as our first two visits, then hitting 65 should be a very pleasant experience! Mr. & Mrs. N. Paterson.
