Having occupied a site on Putney High Street for more than 20 years, La Mancha has moved lock, stock and Don Quixote sculpture to Chiswick – although the new all-day offer is much as before. The Don’s cast-iron figurine still hangs on the wall and looms over proceedings, along with ‘tilting windmill’ motifs inspired by the La Mancha region of Spain (as well as the famous novel), while the menu mixes tapas staples with big pans of paella and zarzuela. Content yourself with traditional morcilla de burgos, albondigas and mojama (carpaccio of air-dried tuna), or fill up with a bigger plate of slow-cooked crispy pork belly and apple sauce. Alternatively, pitch up at the bar for a glass of cava and some nibbles, or pick your way through the reasonably priced list of Spanish and international wines.
