Shoreditch is now home to the fifth instalment of the modern Indian restaurant, Kricket. Less than 10 years on from its conception, Kricket has grown from a pop-up in a Brixton shipping container to one of the most celebrated Indian restaurant groups in the city. With permanent locations in Soho, White City, Brixton, and Canary Wharf, Kricket is now bringing signature modern Indian cooking to East London too.
The Shoreditch Kricket is the first to veer towards all-day cafe-style dining, adding a breakfast menu for the first time ever. The space invites its customers to stay for a while and not rush their visit, with plenty of space to work remotely, or socialise. Located on Charlotte Road, the restaurant has been decorated in a beautiful, authentic Jaipur pink, which makes the restaurant feel warm, welcoming and relaxed – exactly how you want to feel before sitting down to enjoy a great meal with friends.
The menu is inspired by the Kricket teams' recent trip to India, featuring dishes such as Mangalorean smoked pork belly with burnt apple chutney, and Keralan fried chicken with pickled mooli and curry leaf mayo. On the breakfast menu, you can expect to find their interpretation of a full English, the 'full Kricket', including jaggery glazed bacon and chole.
The Kricket menu blends traditional Indian flavours with local British produce, and like its sister sites, the a la carte menu at Kricket Shoreditch features some fan favourites. We're talking Keralan-fried chicken; bhel puri with raw mango, coriander chutney and yoghurt; flavourful samphire pakoras with tamarind chutney and garlic mayo; and purple sprouting broccoli badami with Kashmiri chilli oil and almond. From the grills and curries section choose the tamil leek and potato hariyali with monk's beard and coconut, karnataka pork neck in tamarind with dried chilli, fried ginger and peanuts, and grilled whole sea bream Keralan fish curry.
