Kiez Kebab brings a Berlin-inspired take on döner kebabs to Notting Hill's Golborne Road, focusing on a streamlined menu, thoughtful sourcing and a neighbourhood-driven approach. Rooted in Berlin’s distinctive interpretation of the döner, the concept introduces a style that remains relatively rare in London, prioritising freshness, balance and simplicity.
The menu centres on three core kebabs, each served in soft pide bread rather than wraps. Diners can choose from veal, chicken or a vegan option, with fillings built around generous portions of meat or vegetables, fresh salads and sharp, well-judged sauces. Alongside the kebabs, there are classic fries and rotating seasonal specials designed to complement the pared-back offering without overwhelming it.
Fermentation plays a key role in the kitchen’s approach, with house-fermented vegetables used across the menu to add acidity, depth and contrast. The veal kebab is paired with fennel, red cabbage, tomato, red onion, cucumber and parsley, while the chicken kebab takes inspiration from Berlin’s Gemüsekebap, topped with fried courgettes and aubergines, along with tomato, onion and herbs. Each combination is designed to balance richness with freshness, reflecting how döner is traditionally eaten in Berlin throughout the day.
Drinks are given equal attention. Kiez Kebab has partnered with Bar with Shapes for a Name to curate a concise cocktail list, alongside a selection of German and Austrian beers and wines that nod to the concept’s roots without straying into novelty.
Named after the Berlin word for neighbourhood, Kiez is designed to feel relaxed, familiar and informal. The 30-cover, no-reservation space was created by Red Deer Architects and features an industrial palette of concrete, glass and steel, softened by warm walnut accents. A bespoke sound system from Friendly Pressure and a rotating DJ programme add atmosphere, while terrace seating and a street-side hatch make the venue well suited to both quick visits and longer, more sociable stays.
