KID is a Soho restaurant from chef Sertaç Dirik and restaurateur David Carter, pairing one of London’s most exciting Turkish chefs with the force behind SMOKESTAK, Manteca, OMA and AGORA. For Dirik, whose background includes leading the kitchen at his family’s much-admired Mangal II, the project reflects a deeply personal approach to cooking.
The menu draws on the food Dirik grew up with, shaped by Turkish traditions and the regional flavours of Central Anatolia. Dishes are ingredient-led and guided by seasonality, with a focus on carefully sourced British produce. Throughout, there is a clear respect for time-honoured techniques, reinterpreted with a contemporary London perspective.
Bread plays a central role, from wood-fired tombik pide to sourdough versions finished over the mangal and brushed with rich kaymak butter. A concise selection of meze and salads highlights regional cooking, including house-made cheeses, fresh herbs and vibrant vegetable-led plates alongside carefully sourced Turkish specialities.
Fire-led cooking is at the heart of the kitchen. Starters might include intricately prepared içli köfte or seafood cooked over coals, while larger sharing dishes focus on charcoal grilling and traditional tandir techniques. Expect robust, generously flavoured plates designed for convivial, table-centred dining.
To finish, KID leans into Turkish hospitality with coffee, tea and a selection of sweets, including lokum and baklava that often incorporate seasonal British ingredients.
Set within a prominent Soho corner building, the restaurant has been designed to reflect both its London setting and Turkish influences. Interiors combine warm, tactile materials with considered architectural details, while seating ranges from counter dining at the grill to more intimate tables. A private dining space and in-house bakery reinforce the restaurant’s focus on craft, seasonality and a sense of occasion.
